It's hard to imagine, what a beautiful branched lightnings of singing DRSSTC are and how sometimes it can charm people.
First time I saw singing of DRSSTC about year ago. It was a Youtube video about Steve's DR2 started on June 9 2007 on DucKon 16 in Naperville, Illinois.
I was completely charmed of the unique sound of DRSSTC. The beautiful sound of lightning bolt. I mean, it is a totaly new musical instrument in the whole world. That's breathtakingly!
The more I listened the more I became obsessed on singing coils and wanted to step into this terra incognita for making my own. ^___^
So I began to learn more about it, read the pages, search for a people in my country who already had a deal with it and who live in my town. Shortly I found the "X-Ray" and "Quartz" members of flyback.org.ru.
It took about a year for make things right, save money, wait for a goods, learn how to solder, make pcb design etc. Really, a year ago I didn't understand difference between capacitor and resistor. It was just a parts for me and I didn't thought than I could take off ground this. I did things one by one, blowing exploding IGBTs on Mars and fix the errors causing them, but I believed that I could do it.
And then, finally, I made my first DRSSTC!

PCB design made in Sprint Layout through the photoresistive technology of making PCB.
2хGDT 1:2:2 N87 22х13х6mm, wired with help of BSVi GDT Calc. Full bridge on IRG4PC50UD, HFA25PB60 ultrafast, 1.5KE400CA TVS, 15В zeners and 10Ohm+1N5819 on the gate, 18.8uF Film capacitors on the bridge.
4700uF 400V bus cap. actually may have high ESR. Cap called "CAPXON", Chinese noname stuff.
Noise filter. wall for EMI. Looks like tiny fridge, lol.
Charge resistor for bus cap 10 Ohm 10W. autostep down transformer didn't used, I haven't money for this equip, so sad. :(
and discharge 9kOhm 45W resistor, for bus cap.
MMC 250nF-3kV teflone Suntan 3A154K.
V-looks primary - 6mm hollow copper tube from M1M copper matherial, internal diameter 13cm, external diameter 24cm, height 2см. Strike-ring are on it.
Secondary - PVC hollow tube, diameter 11cm. wired 0.2mm old soviet epox copper wire. wire lenght 38,4cm. covered by 3 or 4 layers some strange "yacht's varnish" but yes, it's Polyurethane. Secondary attached with PVC screws.
Toroid are 40x10cm made with bent aluminium airduct. f(sec)=105kHz.
Orange plywood varnished box.
First I switch-on the left switch, which sent a current through the charge resistor, then the second switch put charge resistor away from the current chain when bus cap come full.
Nice vintage voltmeter help me see the voltage on bus.
555 simple interrupter. midi controller are comes up yet.
Another I have midi controller i1 by BSVi, but I didn't connects it with DR yet. =\
Interrupter and driver put into aluminium boxes from PC's PSU, BNC cable between interrupter and drive
resonance searching in process. OCD=~400А.
lightnings between 40 and 90 cm. 40 cm on 30uSec and about 90cm on 50-60uSec, after then OCD switchs on, but not on the video, after recording I get the spark from middle of my secondary and made a rewire job.

The fuse. If you don't use it, your IGBTs can blow out on Mars, or the wires can blow up, who knows. Anyway, when it was, my zeners become covered by a huge layer of soot. XD

Primary fits in box by nylon tie.
To connect the sliding contact I used contacts from the mount-plate fuse box, after choose the size of contacts of the fuse according to primary diameter.

Yep, this is it. takes them right from Mars. Testing audiointerrupter with my guitar and touch BNC wire. BNC contact had a bad ground connection.

Also, a new interrupter. This is duophonic midi controller by Steve Ward, from early 2008. On the high BPS it come to reduce pulse width, and now, highest notes become alive on DR. Thanks again, Steve.
